I had fun this weekend recording a short solo for a video of one of my arrangements performed by @rhythmislifesteelband. It’s fun to collaborate with old friends from across the country! Can you guess the song from this short clip?
I had a little fun this weekend reacquainting myself with a bunch of different styles on drum set. Here is a short clip. I busted out my @pearl_drums and @sabiancymbals_official and got to work. Still got some rust to clean off. It’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to gig on kit and I’m missing it! I don’t use the cowbell in this clip, sorry!
This is a clip from another piece written for us called “Shortcuts 8” by Andreja Andric. We Zoomed with him this week and had a great time getting to know him and the background of this minimalist-style piece. He composed it through a process he calls “psychological chance,” as the music flows from muscle tension in his fingers while typing preselected notes as fast as possible into a score editor. This was also a great opportunity for me to bust out three of the vintage Chinese woodblocks I refurbished a while ago!
This is a clip from a piece written for us from our call for scores earlier last year. It’s called “Unsettled Spring” written by Nebojsa Macura. The piece makes use of a variety of extended techniques for both vibraphone and flute. We had a Zoom workshop with Neb recently and really enjoyed working with him! We cannot wait to officially perform and record this in the future!
